Prop Export Changes: A Renamed Field Needs a Versioned Mapping
An export change can break a ledger even when its columns still look familiar. Keep the source schema version and field meaning before mapping a new name into an old calculation. Successful parsing is not proof of semantic compatibility.

Preserve the original schema and raw fields
Record file version, field name, unit, aggregation level and null behaviour. A field formerly named fill_qty might describe a new execution, while another named filled_total could be cumulative. Their names alone do not establish the definitions.
Use the actual provider documentation and sample records to approve a mapping. This teaching example defines its own versions; it does not assert a current HashHedge API export or require access to private account data. CSV syntax and numeric typing remain separate checks.
Work a fictional version mismatch
Version A supplies incremental quantities 2 and 3, so their sum is 5. Version B supplies cumulative snapshots 2 and 5 for the same teaching order, so the final total is 5. Reusing A’s sum formula on B would report 7.
Retain both original files and the versioned interpretation. A migration should reconcile the same order identity and known window rather than rewriting the old rows into the new format without provenance. Missing version evidence leaves the mapping unapproved.
| Version | Supplied values | Correct treatment |
|---|---|---|
| A incremental | 2,3 | Sum 5 |
| B cumulative | 2,5 | Final total 5 |
| Incorrect old formula onB | 2+5 | 7:double-counted earlier activity |
| Mapping record | Version, units, meaning | Required before reuse |
Keep reporting and account consequences separate
The related resource preserves this site’s earlier schema-diff method. An Australian diary or reporting currency does not resolve field meaning. Actual evaluation review also requires prices, costs, account valuation and the current programme conditions.
The optional sponsored HashHedge link offers programme information. This page alters no export, production schema or account calculation. It supplies a reproducible five-unit example and a visible failure mode without claiming a live service change or successful account result.
